OSNA ( Open Sensor Network Authentication)
Security is as important in smart object and sensor networks as it is in traditional computer networks, if not more so. By leveraging elliptic curve cryptography and well-established X.509 public key infrastructure security mechanisms, adapting them appropriately for resource-constrained environments, we enhance the security of smart objects, their data and the networks in which they participate.
Using lightweight embedded digital certificates allows for off-line authentication of (wireless) sensor network devices (SND). OSNA is a platform- and manufacturer-independent solution for secure M2M communication, supporting multiple protocol stack and hardware implementations.
The system allows for on-demand issuing of certificates via the cloud based certificate and registration authority modules. This gives the ability for streamlined integration into the manufacturing process through ease of flashing and programming of wireless sensor devices with certificates and security keys on the manufacturing floor. Library support is available for full X.509 interoperability
